$300million Abacha Loot: Jersey Island Gives Nigeria Conditions For Repatriation

Published by Juanita The government of Jersey Island has insisted that the Abacha loot would not be released to Nigeria if a third party representation is brought into the picture. The Honourable Minister and Attorney General of Jersey Island, Robert J. MacRae QC disclosed this on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 during the on going 7th Session of Conference of State Parties to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption, holding in Vienna, Austria. MacRae spoke at a side meeting with the Nigeria delegation led by acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu. The Jersey Attorney General expressly stated that negotiations in respect of repatriation in respect of the USD300 million being part of the Abacha loot between Nigeria and Jersey Island involving the United States of America, USA, "must be government to government cooperation". The EFCC was accompanied at the meeting by four members of the Nigeria delegation.

38 cases of monkey pox confirmed in eight states and the FCT

Published by Juanita The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control says 38 cases of the dreaded monkey pox has been confirmed in 8 states nationwide. The affected states are: Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Ekiti, Enugu, Lagos, Rivers and the Federal Capital Territory. According to the centre's report, there has been 116 suspected cases in 20 states and the FCT. since the onset of the outbreak and 145 contacts are still under follow up. The report also said that more men than women have been infected at a ratio of 2:1. The NCDC said public awareness activities have been intensified while laboratory testing capacity has been extablished in the National Reference Laboratory, Abuja.

26 Nigerian Female Migrants allegedly Sexually Abused & Murdered in Mediterranean Sea

Published by Juanita Italian prosecutors are looking into circumstances surrounding the deaths of 26 Nigerian female migrants at sea. According to  BBC , a Spanish warship Cantabria docked in the southern part of Salemo carrying 375 migrants along with the dead women. There are suspicions that the girls may have been sexually abused and murdered as they attempted to cross the Mediterranean. Five of the surviving migrants are however being questioned to get details on what happened to the women who were mostly aged 14-18. Majority of the survivors were Sub-Saharan Africans from Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, The Gambia & Sudan. 90 women (8 pregnant) were among the survivors along with 52 children. Some Libyan men and women were also among the rescued.
